Live in deep contentment through learning the Science of Yoga as it has been passed down for centuries through the Yoga Sutras.
This short book, written down around 400 BCE, contains just 196 Sutras (aphorisms) that teach us, using a precise methodology, how to stop the fluctuations of the mind, which with some guidance and work leads to pure bliss.
Sutras are concisely written statements that use just a few words or syllables to teach a philosophy, ritual, or any field of knowledge. This was done in Vedic times (ancient India) as a means to more easily memorize a lot of information. This is how knowledge was passed down through generations. Those who studied Yoga Philosophy would learn the concept by memorizing an entire collection of sutras. Teacher to student the information is passed and expounded upon for complete understanding.
The 7-week course “Understanding the Yoga Sutras” unpacks the complex contents of the Yoga Sutras and helps the student understand how to apply ancient principles to their current life as a means to experience maximum happiness in their life, with a steady mind.
Improve your life by connecting with yourself. See how you can literally make an impact on your own environment by learning to still your mind.
This class has been created for those NEW to the Yoga Sutras. No prior knowledge is necessary to participate. The course is also suitable for those who have already read the book, but are looking to understand the deeper nuances of meaning contained within it.
First lesson includes a full introduction to the Yoga Sutras; subsequent classes will have a reading assignment of a few pages each week.
